We carefully screen and select only horses with the right temperament to work with those who have special needs. Learn a little bit about LTRC’s very special horses.

Fancy Pants

Fancy is a Shetland pony who used to be a hunter jumper! After an injury that ended her jumping career, she has since been in our program and is more than happy and healthy in our program!


Cat

Cat is a Thoroughbred that came to us from a rescue program. Cat used to help rehabilitate incarcerated individuals at the Wyoming Correctional Facility. The program gives individuals the opportunity to participate in a rigorous training program where they learn horse anatomy, how to care for injuries, equine nutrition, and other aspects of horse care. Cat now spends her days in our program, helping even more people!




Paint

Paint is a flashy paint gelding in his mid to late teens. He was a 4-H show horse who worked with children for many years. He has since retired from the show scene and is now utilized in our program.


Sonny

Sonny is a Haflinger gelding who came from a trail riding camp. His age is in the mid-teens. Sonny has a mustache that makes him look like a perfect gentleman!


Jimmy

Jimmy is a Morgan gelding who is sure to bring a smile to your face. He was a beloved lesson horse at the Houghton University Equestrian Program for many years, teaching students cross country and dressage. He is settling into our program at LTRC now, and we are so excited to have Jimmy join our herd!


Dixie

Dixie is a very sweet Morgan cross, who was rescued from a poor situation. Dixie is 12 years old, a very pretty girl who loves attention.
