We carefully screen and select only horses with the right temperament to work with those who have special needs. Learn a little bit about LTRC’s very special horses.

Owen

Owen is a Quarter Horse gelding, and likes to think of himself as the official Barn Greeter. He’s the first horse you see when you come in the barn and will usually reach out to nudge you just to make sure you stop to say hello. Owen is big, tall and handsome. He is super nice and gets along with everyone. Owen is a favorite of many riders.

Bandit

Bandit is an Palomino Overo paint gelding who has been used in 4-H, ridden in parades and has been trail riding all over Western New York. He is a laid back guy with endless patience and has been enjoying his time as a therapeutic horse at Lothlorien!

Dutch

Dutch is a 9 year old Standardbred gelding who recently came off the racetrack and is now being re-trained as one of our therapy horses. His race name is Hold The Gold. Dutch is a big handsome bay!

Monte

Monte is an old horse with an old soul, he is the sweetest guy and everyone’s favorite pony. Monte, like Charlie, came from auction to live at Lothlorien. He came to us underweight and needing some love and that’s just what we plan on giving him!

Ranger

Ranger is a flashy paint gelding in his mid to late teens. He was a 4-H horse who worked with kids, Ranger is a very good natured boy!

Sonny

Sonny is a Haflinger (sometimes called Avelignese) gelding who came from a trail riding camp. His age is in the mid-teens. Sonny has a mustache that makes him look like a perfect gentleman!

Lucy

Lucy is an older girl who came to us underweight and sad. Since she has been at Lothlorien she has really come out of her shell and looks so much better! Lucy was previously used at a kids camp, she is very sweet and a quiet girl

Dixie

Dixie is a very sweet horse, who was rescued from a poor situation. Dixie is 12 years old, a very pretty girl who loves attention.

Charlie

Charlie is an older gentleman who still has some spunk! He came from an auction so we don’t know too much about his past, but we believe he is a quarter horse who was once a fancy boy, he is now living happily with us as a therapy horse.
